Was Runner Of The Month for
Congratulations to Pete Mills, who is our October ROTM. Pete is a new member of our running club, as he only joined us in April 2022, after graduating from the C25K.
But during this period he’s thrown himself into everything. He’s been a regular at club nights and the current C25K, plus lots of private training, as well as entering a full variety of races, including road, cross country and fell running, over a wide range of distances.
This has all enabled him to improve rapidly, month by month. All together he’s covered 135 miles since joining – just racing! (23 races in total). Not a bad introduction!
Here are Pete best times so far see below.
Pete Mills started his October racing with an impressive new PB at the Shelton Striders 10K, smashing his previous best (set just a month before at Wilne) by nearly a minute.
This was followed up by a strong showing at Markeaton Park in the very challenging North Midlands Cross Country League race.
The following weekend brought a trip to Buxton as the sole LERC representative at the Windgather Fell Race. This ‘category B long’ fell race is a half marathon+ over tough terrain & with 2,500 feet of ascent, including Shining Tor.
After sunshine at Markeaton, Pete battled some filthy weather to come home in a tremendous time, just outside 2hrs 20.
To round off the month Pete excelled at the undulating Worksop Half Marathon, taking another 7 minutes off his previous HM time!
Pete is also a member of the LERC committee as a Welfare officer, so please get in touch with him if you have been affected by any of this report!
