Was Runner Of The Month for
March 2022 Runner of the Month - David Sewell
Dave is one of the regular faces of Long Eaton Parkrun and Junior Parkrun - with over 110 volunteer credits, and 149 runs to date. He started running in 2016, and joined Long Eaton Running Club in 2019, and since then his running has improved massively.
Never afraid to “have a go” at something, During 2020 he was ever present at the side of Aaran for his Marathonmania challenge, and really pushed himself at the lockdown challenges, having a go whatever the distance.
But it’s in the last 12 months that his improvements have been really showing. Since completing his first Marathon in October, his times have vastly improved, breaking 5K, 5 mile, 10K and half marathon PB’s consistently. He embraced Super Mario’s speed sessions, and now holds his own on a Wednesday too, helping and supporting others that cannot make the main session - thank you from the club for this!
Onto March, having just set a PB at the end of February at the Carsington 10K - where he had taken 2 minutes off his PB on a hilly course, he then smashed his 5K PB with a 20:56, taking 28 seconds off the PB he had already set in February.
He then finished the month at the Midland Counties Relay with a really strong run, whilst helping arrange the team ready for the day.
Huge well done Dave, we look forward to seeing even more improvement over the coming weeks, and enjoy your 150th parkrun!
