ROTM May 2024 - Helen Stout
May has to be one of the toughest months to choose an overall winner for ROTM. There are 6 summer league races and 4 fell races on the calendar, not including parkruns.
Whilst ROTM isn’t chosen just for racing, it is important to acknowledge the fantastic efforts made by our club members and many have shone in May, but Paul, Anthony and I were unanimous in our vote for the overall recipient, someone who has had an outstanding month of running.
It began on May 4th with a PB at Long Eaton parkrun of 20 mins. 3 days later at the DRRL race at Cromford they came 5th female and 1st F50.
5 days later they took the 1st female position at Sinfin 5 and a week later, they finished 2nd female at Carsington 7. This formidable female went on to PB at Newark showground race with a 2nd placing in her age category. To round off the month she came 4th woman at Trent 5 and led the team to win 1st place.
She has completed 6/10 of the Summer league races and come first in every one. It gives me great pleasure to award our May runner of the month to the Heroic Helen Stout.
