Midweek Leagues - midway point.

With three Notts AAA to go, the next on Wednesday 13 June at Holme Pierrepont, and three BDL league races completed we are handily placed to improve positions in both leagues.

In the BDL league the men have been 2nd only to Heanor in the last two races, and are now in 2nd spot overall. The women have also performed consistently well for 5th place, and LERC is now 3rd in the combined table where we were regularly positioned just a few years ago. Only Heanor and Sutton are ahead, with Matlock close behind.

Aston Perrin is leading the way with 4th,2nd & 2nd to be 4th senior man overall. Also, Dave Riley is the leading MV60 with 3rd, 1st & 1st. Several other LERC runners are in the running for individual age places. In this league, the best 4 out of 5 results count. The turnout of club members has been magnificent, averaging 38 over the three races.

In the Notts AAA summer road league, the senior men are 3rd overall behind Holme Pierrepont and Notts AC, and just ahead of Rushcliffe. The vet men are 10th, with the senior women in 9th. There are far more clubs in this league compared with the twelve in the BDL, so these positions are more impressive than at first glance.

As with the BDL, Aston is in even more swash-buckling form, with a 2nd & 1st for joint 1st place overall. You have to complete all five races to feature in the final tables in this league.

The measured five mile course at NWSC Holme Pierrepont is the course for a 5 mile PB. A massive turnout required to help the senior men protect their 3rd place overall. Six to count, but the next club runners in can knock back potential counters with every place gained. Like-wise with the senior women where three to count.

Both leagues are now as tough as ever. Always high quality at the front, but the high standard reaches deep into the field of runners. We must continue to turn out in numbers to maintain or improve our current team positions.
