Round-up of final positions in the Booth’s and East Mids Cross Country Leagues

Well done and thank you to all who took part in at least one of the three cross country leagues in which the club takes part. There were 13 races in total, including the North Midlands League, and the fixtures seem to be every weekend, and sometimes Saturday and Sunday. Below is a brief summary of individual and team achievements.

The overall standard of the Booth’s League continues to rise, but three LERC ladies achieved top three placing in their individual age-group category, by completing at least 4 of the 5 league races.

Jane Hudson - =1st V50
Val Lindsey - 2nd V65
Cath Benson - 3rd V45

Very well done and congratulations to all three. In the league tables, the club wasn’t quite as successful, with the Men’s team placing 8th, and the Women’s team 7th. In the combined table, the club was 8th. All out of 12 competing clubs.

We had more success in the East Midlands League where the Senior Men finished in 1st place in the Senior “A” category after the 4 races, for the first time since 2009, narrowly beating Notts University into second overall spot.

The 7 senior men who achieved scoring positions at least once, were:

Andy Peat - 3 individual 1st places
Nick Dennis - 2 x 4th & 1 x 3rd
Mario Rocchelli - ran all 4 races
Rich Howe - ran all 4 races
Mark Boot - ran 3 races
Greg Cherry
Anthony Hatswell

In addition to this fine team success, Men’s Vets “A” were 2nd, and Women’s Senior “A” were 4th.
