County Track and Field Champs
County medals were won at the combined Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Track & Field Championships at Moorways Stadium, Derby today. In a quality 3000m Mens masters race, containing the current World V60 indoor 1500m record holder, the current British Masters (BMAF) V55 10k Road gold medallist, the current BMAF V50 outdoor track 1500m silver & bronze medallists, a Nottinghamshire County Cross Country and Fell runner, and a 2hrs 20-ish marathon runner, Rich Wilkinson and Rob Fox had their work cut out. Rich, having already notched up the UK Short and Medium Trail Running V50 championships, and an occasional Dark Peak Fell Runner, surely mistook the distance for 3000 km, and found the pace a bit hotter than on his usual long-distance trudges over hill and dale, but nevertheless, battled hard and earned a deserved V50 Nottinghamshire County AAA silver medal.
Rob (the author) in a personal battle against his current age group nemesis and the 10 minute barrier, got his pacing all wrong and was 2.6 secs out at the line, but also collecting a Derbyshire County AA V50 silver.
