A weekend of success for Long Eaton running club
Starting off at the Jog Derbyshire 5k on Saturday, 6 LERC’s ran this event. Greg Cherry the winner, in an amazing time of 16.54 mins and his first race for the club. Followed by Paul Allcock, his first 5k race for the club in 17.12. Darren Pyefinch finished with a course best of 20.39 and John Oleshko finished with a pb of 22.10. Wendy Ray and Chris Woods also ran in this local event
Four of the local Parkruns had members running this weekend, Mansfield, Colwick, Rushcliffe and Forest Rec were all attended by LERCers showing their ever growing popularity.
At Darley park, Sarah Terry achieved a pb of 19:09 and was 1st overall winner of the race, Go Sarah Go Sarah!
On Sunday, 9 LERCers made their way to the summer league race, the Bosworth Half marathon, a lovely rural 13.1 miles. 8 Ladies and 1 man took to the start line. Jackie Mather was 1st in 1:38:44 winning 1st V50 category, Rachel Argent 1:49:21 with a course best and Carrie Chan 1:53:48 with a huge course best by 13 minutes and a pb by 3 minutes. Damian was the 1st and only male from LERC running in 1:57:32 with 150 points in the bag, Rachel Hemsley close to under 2 hours in 2:00:08 and Melanie Coxon 2:02:37.
Having ran a marathon just 6 days ago, Vicky Mycroft ran and supported her daughter Abbie in her 1st half marathon completed in a time of 2:07:38, in true spirit finishing over the line together. Aanna Mulligan-Freeman in 2:09:53 with a previous time of around 2:20 at the Robin Hood half marathon last year before joining the club shows a huge amount of improvement and Charlie Marcer in 2:13:32 both achieving pb's on the day. Mobile supportter and photographer on the day was Aaran, seen cycling the route coaching and snapping the LERCers on the course! As a reward, cakes and buns were enjoyed on the grass before the rain came!
Anthony Batty aka Boyband travelled north to the Sheffield Half marathon instead, with mixed views heard about the course and on post marathon legs ran it in 1:23:07.
Natalie Teece took to the Leicester Big 10k race also on Sunday achieving a course best in 40:28 and 1st lady all on not so quite recovered post marathon legs, Well done Natalie.
Three Lercers travelled to Wymeswold to compete in the Wymeswold Waddle - a 5 mile race which sees the runners run 2.5 miles uphill and 2.5 miles downhill!!! Course bests were achieved by Vicky Yeomans and Louise Hughes, with Vicky finishing in 37.43 and Louise finishing in 39.08. Jon Hughes finished in a time of 34.02.
At least 4 or even more LERCers were at another more local race, the Aston on Trent 10k, results still to come in but well done to our runners taking part.

Can i add Market Drayton 10k to the list? Sole representative of LERC in 1600 runners, great atmosphere, a 10k PB and the best goody bag ever -free pint, pork pie, 12 Muller yoghurts, shirt, sports bag,.......and the list went on
