parkrunning
With all but one marathon now completed and runners resting legs, it was great to see Long Eaton Running Club make a good turnout at Colwick parkrun.
With 3 parkrun cherries being popped and a 1st and 2nd place for the men, 1st place for the ladies, 2nd place for the Jm14 and 1st place for Vm65-69 (sorry Pete, gave your age away) it is quite clear that LERC are stamping thier authority on this parkrun location and making it thier own.
Gavin Kennedy aka Kenno, popped his parkrun cherry and just pipped Adam White for 1st place, although Adam say's he stepped aside for Kenno to take the glory (kenno has yet to learn how to record his race time!).
Jackie Mather, also a cherry popper, was next home for the club and 1st lady. Jackie was delighted with the result but even more pleased that this was the first time she has been 1st lady at a race.
Zak Ferguson with a new pb of 21m 53s was second Jm14 and next home for the club, followed by his dad, Rich Ferguson, who ran a new course best of 22m 07s. Rich not only ran in the Paris Marathon three weeks ago but also ran in the VLM marathon!
Shaun Burton clocked 22m 43s and was only 39 seconds away from a cb, despite also marathon running at Manchester less than a week ago. Damian Cowlishaw, who only runs to get his parkrun tee shirts, was next home in a respectable 23m m36s, with Pete Folwes 24m 50s the third cherry popper of the day and 1st in his young age
186 participents completed the 97th Colwick parkrun.
