Club team success in the Booth's cross country league.

Following Sunday's cross country fixture at Holmebrook Park, Chesterfield, the 5th and final race of the season, LERC Men and Women magnificently held onto the overall Combined League top spot.

The Women's team, lead by Sarah Harris, who completed a clean sweep of wins, exacted revenge on the 2nd placed runner for a rare defeat at the County champs last month. Sarah Terry was a superb 3rd and should feature in the overall individual placings. With Cath Benson 15th after another brilliant run, they were 1st team on the day beating Sutton Harriers and 1st overall for the series.

The Men's team were 4th team on the day, against stiff opposition, and a tremendous 2nd team over the series just behind Heanor RC. Rod Harris was 2nd after a superb set of races, and will be 1st V40 Man overall, with Mark Boot in 13th place. He will place highly in an extremely tough senior men's category.

Well done to all 16 (12 men, 4 women) club runners who turned out, and to all who have taken part in the Booth's league this season, and contributed to this success.

The final individual positions are listed below. The awards will be made after the second summer fixture as usual, so try to be there to cheer on the winners. It is planned to be on Wed (not a mistake) 15th May at Ilkeston Rugby Club.

The individual prize winners were as follows;
Senior Ladies: 1st Sarah Harris
3rd Sarah Terry
VL45: 2nd Cath Benson
VM40: 1st Rod Harris
VM45: 2nd Paddy Fitzgerald
3rd Dave Boot
VM50: 1st Rob Fox
VM55: 2nd Dave Riley

As well as the above, Mark Boot was 10th senior man in an extremely competitive category. John Hay, Phil Abbott, Rich Howe & Pete Fowles also completed at least 4 races, and were placed in the final tables.
