Wrexham Half Marathon
Club Captain Shaun Burton and top V50 runner Jackie Mather made the long journey to North Wales to run the Wrexham Half marathon on Sunday 19th February. Shaun was very pleased with his time of 1:42:23, which was his quickest for 2 years, while Jackie was 2nd V50 lady on what was a fast, flat course. However, the race was unfortunately notable for what race organisers described as "maliciously changed signs", which resulted in the 1st 5 finishers all completing the race in under 1:07. Persons unknown (Shaun used more colourful language) had moved one of the arrows so that it lead to a 2 mile short cut. Fortunately, the moved arrow was spotted before too many runners had passed that point, but when the marshalls checked it again later in the day, it had once again been moved. This saw 12 runners have their races ruined by running 2 fewer miles than planned. Shaun commented: "Some people are [expletive removed]!"
