Midland Masters Cross Country Championships
The annual Midland Masters Cross Country Championships took place on Sunday 22nd January at Droitwich, with a complete LERC men's team making the startline alongside a sole female representative. The Midland Masters' website described the course as being "ideal conditions", after a strong wind had apparently dried out some potentially sticky terrain.
The men's team consisted of Andy McNeil, making a welcome return to racing, Rob Fox and Rich Wilkinson, who all tackled the 8k course. Andy led the team home in 10th place overall and 4th M45, with a strong run. Rob Fox was not too far behind in 16th, which was also enough for an excellent individual bronze medal in the M50 category, while Rich completed the team in 40th (9th M50), which secured a superb team Gold, placing the club ahead of both Coventry Godiva and Tipton Harriers.
There was no chance of team glory for Jackie Mather as she lined up at the start of the 6k women's race, but that didn't deter her. She finished with yet another medal to add to her growing collection, placing 3rd in the W50 category.
Well done to all.
