Toronto Waterfront Marathon
Having gained England selection for the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Sarah Harris lined up against a world class field on Sunday October 16th, hoping to do herself justice. 2:43.53 later (within a minute of the pb Sarah set in Edinburgh this year), she had done just that, finishing 44th overall, placing an excellent 6th woman, first English female and beating the best that Canada and the USA had to offer on the day. Such was the quality of the field, that all five women who finished ahead of Sarah ran inside the qualification standard for next year's Olympic marathon, while the winner, Yal of Ethiopia, ran the 8th fastest time in the world this year.
No doubt putting on the England vest will have given Sarah even more motivation, not that it were needed, to run even quicker over the marathon in 2012. Congratulations once again from LERC on what is a superb achievement.
