Yet another sucessful series for Long Eaton with the mens team matching 2010 result with once again finishing 1st and 3rd in the standings
A total of 29 members of the club managed to run all four races held over 10 days with a 10k,4 mile,5k and finishing off with a 5 mile at Colwick Park.
Rushcliffe Country park held 2 of the races , the 4 miler and the 5k as Woolaton Park had been the setting for scenes for the new Batman film staring Christain Bale, mogan Freeman and Michael Caine, none of whom took part in any of the races.
A Further 25 members took part in at least one of the races making at total of 54 which is 30% of the club members taking part.
The ladies Team were abit depleted as far as the really fast girls this year due to injuries Illness and holidays, still managed a creditable 4th place overall.
There were lots of Debuts for the series and many new PBs and CBs were set, in fact there were 36 new PBs.
Paddy Fitzgerald was the most runner improved over the series with 3 new PB's and 1 CB to his credit.
The Mens 1st Team prize went to 2 Debutants of Andy Peat who finished 5th overall, Blane Crawford was 8th for the total racing mileage of over 18 miles and Junior member Mark Boot, 9th made up the winning trio.
The mens 3rd Place team was comprised of 3 more expirenced heriatage runners with Rob Fox 10th, Mark Tilling 13th and Ian Chant 15th, these guys only missed out on 2nd place by less than 2 mins.
Rob Fox also won the MV50 prize as well, the ladies V50 prize also went to a Long Eaton runner with Jackie Mather taking the spoils, Jackie also was the 3rd placed lady less than 2 mins behind the 1st place lady who was young enough to be Jackies daughter.
The Ladies Team who finishe 4th was Comprised of Jackie, Sarah Crannage and Rachel Woollard.
Many Spot prizes were won at the presentation as well as the running prizes and im sure that the Name "Long Eaton Running Club" was cheesing other Club's members off as it was mentioned so often.
