Booth Summer League race1
Held at Denby, this 5.3 mile race saw the most ever amount of runners taking part in this team league ,with approx 300 starters. 10% of the field were from Long Eaton the route was undulating on rutted paths, the weather was good for running and as such Long Eaton took Advantage, with the mens team taking 1st place on the night, the ladies were 8th but the ladies race the points were really spread out and so they done lie to far too far behind. The overall position means that LERC are 4th. The overall position is worked out from the top 7 men and top 3 ladies in from each club counting, 11 teams are competing this year over 5 races. Notable runs were from Andy McNeil who finished 8th in 31:09 just behind Andy Peat. Andy was always encouraging other members of the club to get that 1st place ,not bad after completing the London Marathon in 2:41 only 2 days before! 3 members of the same family also took place Martin Tilling and 2 of his sons David and Mark made it a family affair with Mark counting in one of the top 7 in the LERC team. 6 Long Eaton Ladies took part with Liz Day continuing her fine form was 1st back for LERC in 36:54, Cath Rowe comming back from injury set 46:05 but had started 5 mins late due to being stuck in bad traffic getting to Denby. The ever improving Laura Froggatt was pleased with her time of 48:41, and is over a minute a mile quicker now than 6 months ago!
