UK Shortcourse Trail Running Championship
Three members of LERC took part in the above event on Saturday 30 April, which was incorporated into the Red Kite Challenge near Aberystwyth. The course was an undulating 11.5 mile distance with 2000 feet of climb on a sunny but very windy day over some beautiful mid-Wales scenery. The three, Ed Murden, Rich Wilkinson and Rob Fox easily won the Mens Master's team gold medal finishing in 8th, 46th and 20th positions respectively in a high quality field.
Ed ran a magnificent race on the back of some fine form, taking the UK Men's V45 title in a time of 1hr 23mins 17secs, showing that he is equally at home on the road or over the hills.
Rob Fox was 20th, and 2nd Men's V50 in 1hr 30mins 29secs, taking a break from his preferred road surface.
Completing the gold medal-winning trio of performances was Rich "Dicky Wilko" Wilkinson, finishing in a battling 46th place in 1hr 38mins 18secs, and 6th Men's V50 overall, down on last year's 3rd place unfortunately, due to injury and subsequent lack of race fitness.
