Its a good day for Peat's sake even after sex change
Bramcote/Broxtowe 5k proved a good one for the long eaton running Club with both the mens and ladies races won by a LERCER. Andy PEAT in his 3rd race of the week won the mens race in a time of 17:01 and Liz DAY also in her 3rd race of the week funnily enough the same races as Andy also won in a time of 20:22.(for those who like conincedences Liz was 3rd at the recent paws 10k and Andy was also 3rd in the same race) The Race in its 3rd year was over subscribed and even though not a PB course, caused a few PBs (Did you see what i did there). 13 LERCERS ran with 5 getting new PBs and 3 were in the top 10. Bob and Kathy Crockford both got new bests for 3.1 miles as did Liz Day, Damian Cowlishaw and Lara "Sheila" Froggatt. Another Married Couple along with the Crockfords were Claire and Steve Grace who were pacing their friend who only started running 6 weeks ago and doing her first race, they all finished in approx 33 mins.Al maplethorpe was the 3rd 1st for LERC as he was the 1st v50 accross the finish line. Dawn Blatherwick decided to run and finshed only seconds outside her PB as did Paul Burchell.Kieran Mckeever wanting to do 18 mins achieved his aim and did 18 mins dead in a superb 5th place. Shaun Burton the mens team captain nearly became the Womens Captian as the results on STUWEB web site said his name was Sharon Burton in her age categry of Female vet 40. After painting her/his toes he contacted the web site to correct because she/he had won the vet 40 prize for females. Im still wait for the prize. :-D
