More than 50 Runners
Took part in one race or another over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of April with the 42 mile extremely hilly Fours Inns Race on the Saturday which you can read about on the Web Site with Phil Abbot Reporting on the fact that once again a LERC team won the 1st Novice Team.(Comprising of Sarah Crannage, Debbie Coleman and late Stand In for the ladies team Damien Cowlishaw).
On Sunday the 3rd April there were 2 races on that LERC attended in numbers, the Derby 10K and the Belvoir Half Marathon , 19 runners at Derby and 18 at The Half Marathon and a total of 10 new PBs were set with big Chunks of time being taken off the previous best times. It was a Good day again for Mr and Mrs Harris even though Rod did Belvoir and Sarah did Derby, with Sarah winning the Ladies race in a time of 35:45 and 15th overall beating everyone else from the Long Eaton Club men or women, Rob Fox being closest in 20th and a time of 36:15 and Andy Peat 2 places further Back and only 6 seconds behind Rob, Rob Managing to pick off Andy just as they both entered the Football stadium. PBs were set by John Hay, Mark Hudson and Jane Newbold fresh on the heels for her PB at Ashby 20, Annette Trindle once again a LERCer set a new course best of 49:34 over 3 mins better than before.
Rod decided to do the 13.1 mile race starting and finishing in Hose in Leicestershire the weather was quite cool to start with and then like at derby the sun Shone and the temperature went up with the 1st 5 miles quite quick and the rest of the course a bit undulating Rod Attacked it and finished 5th in his target time of 1:15 just 2 mins behind the winner. PB performance were set by Girvan Wright,Chris Wood,Paul Burchell,David Harper, Rachael Woollard, Carrie Fretwell and these days the ever more quick Laura Frogatt. The most improved performance of the day was set by Carrie Fretwell who knocked a staggering 8 mins from her previous best performance for a half marathon and set 2:01:53.
