Fradley 10k

On a busy day for LERC with numerous races taking place on the same day, Ashby 20, and Retford half marathon along with Stafford 20 , LERC had 3 runners attracted by the Flat 2 lap scenic race near Lichfield. Shaun Burton, Jackie Mather and Andy Peat started along with 670 other runners. Shaun wanting 44mins, Jackie around 42 and Andy around 36, the race delayed by 15 mins caused a bit of a problem with the warm up routines as it was cold at the start of the race. The Horn sounded at 10:45 and the competitors set off, the scenic route suited all 3 LERCers as Andy Clocked a new PB of 35:22, Jackie,in her 3rd Fradley 10k set a new PB of 42:22 which is bodes well for the future. Shaun could not Join Andy or Jackie in a PB but nether the less set a good time for him in 43:56.

Weston 5

An earlier date than in previous years did not stop 11 current and 2 about to rejoin members of LERC to this flat 5 mile road race. Jackie Mather in heavy training was 2nd lady in a new best time of 33:43 she was also in the 3rd Place team along with training partner Shaun Burton and father and son Dave and Mark Boot, Mark winning the 1st Junior prize in a time of 30:52 , 8 secs ahead of his Dad. Ladies Captain Lousie Jansen in her first road race after injury set her best time for five miles(41:52) after recent good quality training. Damien Colishaw ran well for his 39:52 picking off John Adams (in his first Road race for LERC) on a dip finish on the line. 66 year old Geoff Jones was pleased with his top 100 place in less than 39 mins. Mark Harison set a quick time only 5 secs behind Shaun which kept Shaun going as Mark said he was going to catch him. Bob Warburton decided to have a run out in a race for a change and set 37:54. Dawn Blatherwick made it to the Start and was well pleased with her time of 38:51 which means shes getting back to some where near her quickest time again. It was also nice to see Lynn Andrews and Soraya Kashefi also Competing again after a bit of a lay off , with Lynn being a bit busy with her and partner Stuart Adopting two babies recently.
