LERC Summer handicap
The Club held it's annual Summer handicap event over the usual course, along the old Derby canal path at the Navigation, Breaston. 31 Club members, old and new turned out to compete, along with a sizeable bunch to marshal the course and ensure that everyone got back in time for the traditional chip butties and liquid refreshments.
Sean Burton's accurate handicapping resulted in the first three finishing within 32 seconds of each other, with the rest not far behind.
Top honours this year went to Al Maplethorpe, who actually completed the 5.2m road and trail course in 35.37 mins when adjusted to take account of the handicap. He was followed in by new club members Martin Mathews (42.49), and Hayley Bevan (47.44) who was marginly ahead of her friend and fellow newcomer Jade Parry.
Well done to all those who took part, and thanks to helpers and marshals.
