Wansfell Fell Race
A final, final Lakeland fell race of the year! Wheezing like an old steam train up to the 1597 foot summit of Wansfell next to Ambleside the week off after piglet flu didn't help. Climbing through the clag to the fell top cairn the snow got progressively deeper so that after the turn the descent was through three foot drifts. A mixture of leaping, lugeing and standing glissades somehow got us to the lane and 200 yards to the finish.
Race then mugs of tea and mince pies at the finish in the Lakes Runner cafe all for a pound.
Thanks to everyone at LERC that ran with me over the fells this year it's been a hoot!
