Firsts, PBs and CB Galore

Long Eaton had 8 new PBs and 4 Course Bests were set on the 27th running of the Turkey Trot Half Marathon at Keyworth on the 13th of December, a record of over 870 runners finished. 32 Lercers took part with many good times being set. The weather although cold was not freezing although the rain that dropped made things a little cooler but there was no wind to hinder the runners on the hard hilly course. A hamstring injury put paid to John Birches chances of a good finish and he had to pull out at about 7 miles and Darren Pyefinch running the race for the first time struggled on the last 4 miles. There were 3 firsts with Sarah Harris 1st lady and 16th overall, the mens team of Rod Harris(5th), Ian Chant (13th) with a new PB, and Andy Colegate (25th) taking the glassware home. Long Eaton also had the 1st Santa Home with Phil Thompson in his father Christmas Garb setting 1:45. There's going to be a lot of Turkey eaten in the Harris Household as the first 5 men and the first 5 ladies got a Turkey each and as Sarah was 1st(with a new PB of below 1:20) and Rod Harris 5th, the cooker is going to be on overtime on Christmas Day. Matt Salt had the Biggest PB with nearly 10 mins off of his previous best which was 1:59, Damian Cowlishaw ducked under 1:40 for the first time. Well done to Long Eaton and have a happy Christmas and new Year.
