Pride Park County relay championships
Around 35 teams gathered at Derby County's stadium for the Pride Park County relay championships. 4 legs of 2 miles on a course around the retail site, former Wilmorton College and riverside path back to the start point outside the stadium.
Conditions were warm, dry and windy as many of Derbyshires strong clubs lined up - some entering as many as 6 teams!
Rob Fox had a blistering first leg underlying his current strong form to run a time of 10m 45s and 8th place. John Birch maintained 8th with 11m 41s; Ian Adkin with good miles in his legs from Borrowdale fell race training improved the teams placing to 7th with 11m 38s; and Dicky Wilkinson held onto 7th position to finish for the team in 11m 22s.
A time of 45m 26s gave Long Eaton 3rd place in the masters open race and team silver medals in the masters county championships behind a strong Heanor team. Vocal support from Sharon Orridge, Carol Birch and Andy McNeil around the course made a big difference and was much appreciated
