Hoar Cross 10k

Undulating? no I would call it hilly the 1st running of this 10k was a good one, the route was well marked with signs and marshalls, good support and the weather wasnt too bad either apart from the down pour and hour before the race started. The route was all on tarmac on very quiet roads, through sleepy villages and it seemed mostly up hill. If you have done the Whatstandwell 5 mile race on the 1st Jan each year, you will know there are ups and downs, this race was similar with the 1st 2 miles up hill and then undulating, there is no really steep down hill at the end as at Whatstandwell though, in fact it was up hill. a nice T shirt was given to all the finishers. Shaun Burton and Matt Salt from Long eaton made the 30 mile trip to Hoar Cross to race. Matt in his first race for the Club was proud to be wearing the White and Blue Club Colours for the first time and his wife and Baby daughter of 5 months were there to see him complete the hilly course in just over 51 mins. Shaun at the very back at the start if fact was the last runner over the timing mat did a negative split in a time of 47:58(watch time) which wasnt bad as his first 5k was run in 24:45. The race is a nice one I would suggest its a good one for next year.
