LERC say thanks to Edale Mountain Rescue Team

The Edale Skyline Fell Race 2009 was a fitting opportunity for Long Eaton Running Club to say a big 'Thank You' and make a donation from their Charity Account to the funds of Edale Mountain Rescue Team, based at Castleton in the High Peak. The Club handed over a cheque for £300 to the team after the race, raised by club runners over a number of events. Edale MRT were chosen because Long Eaton runners make numerous forays out into the Peak District every year, from short races in almost every month through to longer runs such as the 20 mile Edale Skyline in March, the 43 mile Four Inns event in April and the 20 mile Hope Moors and Tors in October, with the mountain rescue in attendance at many races - just in case! For the record, five Long Eaton runners competed in the Skyline with Colin Bostock, Phil Abbott and Andy Dickenson completing the course and Pete Sturgess and Tony Vardy indulging themselves in a little heroic failure.
