Weston 5
The theme of the Weston 5 mile race held over a flat road course on the 29th March was "old and new" with 2 "new" LERC members Justine Williams and Kerry Bird running their first race for the club.
Justine ran the course in 47:00 and Kerry in 48:35. When asked by mens Captain Shaun Burton how they felt at the end of the race they said they loved it. The "old" come in the form of Jim Stevenson who having just passed his 80th Birthday celebrated by running 53:13 for the 5 miles.
New PB's were set by Jackie Mather in 37:10 knocking 2 mins off her previous best and coming in as first F45 and also Louise Janson who, with the help of Mark Harison running the course with her, took 5 mins off her 5 mile time with 41:09.
Rob Fox finished in the top 10 for the race cracked 30 mins with a stunning 29:40 and Paddy Fitzgerald, after his 21 mile training run for the London Marathon the day before, clocked 31:34.
Rob Smith, a year on from his first race back after a serious injury, knocked 4 mins off of the time he set last year and finished in 34:04 just 7 seconds behind Dave Riley. Clive Steeden(43:58), Chris Bradley(36:17) and Shaun Burton (35:51) also had fine runs in the sunshine at Weston on Trent
