Titterstone Clee Fell Race

On 7th February 2009 one intrepid explorer, I mean Long Eaton fell runner, set off for the Shropshire Hills to compete in the 2.5 mile, 750ft Titterstone Fell race. It was none other than Colin Bostock who braved the snow and wintry conditions to tackle this course, finishing in 33:55.

Long Mynd

On 8th February 2009 two Long Eaton runners braved the Shropshire Hills for the notorious Long Mynd Fell race. 11.5 miles and 4500’ of ascent, most of which comes in the last three miles.
Conditions from the start were packed snow, sunshine and no wind, in the fell world that’s almost perfect conditions!!! Once on the top of Long Mynd, a deceptively “easy” 2 miles took the runners to the other side of the hills. Then the ups and downs began. A heavy snow shower started half way round which made things interesting. The last ascent was a killer and the wind was getting up making it cold. The finish was a welcome sight where much needed soup and tea was handed out in the Village Hall.

Andy Dickenson was first home for the club, finishing 2nd V40 and 13th overall. He finished in a time of 2:06:22. Phil Walters finished in a time of 2:44:55.
