Queens Head 5k

76 athletes ran the 5k (set to the tune of 76 trombones) Long Eaton had a big turnout of 10 runners to run the undulating out and back road course staged in Belper. Held on the 27th of December it was nice to get the chance to work off the Christmas Excesses and get some fresh air. The weather was bitter with the wind chill making it feel like minus 4 and not the plus 4 degress that it was. The ladies were represented by Zoe Fletcher who having a quiet Christmas set a time of 24:53 and 66th place. On the Mens side it was nice to see Mick Mcdermott racing as it was his first race in a year due to an on going injury, Phill Abbott set a new PB helped by the constant application of liquid carbs in the previous 3 days, Rob Fox who likes to be early for races out did himself and got to the event 2 hours before it started (are you taking note Andrei?) John Birch and Andy McNeil took the Vets 1st places with Andy 1st for the MV40's and John newly promoted to his new age group taking the 1st place in the MV50's.
