Booth Cross Country race 3 (Bramcote Park)

It was like a scene from a christmas card with the frosty ground and the beautiful sunshine all that was needed was a robin redbreast. The frost made the hilly course suitable for road shoes and helped out the runners over the 2 lap 4.1 miles route.
Of the 158 finishers were 16 longeaton runners which would have been more but for Rob Fox getting injured just before the start and Bob Warburton feeling ill half way around and having to pull out. The good news was that John Hay had his first race and first run over 2miles in over 8 weeks and was very pleased with his 34:43 and 123rd place just picking off Bill Sheppard on the line with a dip finish. Paul Lewis was 6th, junior Member Cameron McNeil was 16th in 26:27, Ian Chant who was a bit upset loosing his head band before the start set 26:41 and was 19th. Mark Boot also a junior was 21st in 26:41. On the ladies side Caroline Waterhouse “fresh” from international running in Cyprus where she ran 6k,11k a half marathon and a 10k in 4 days, was 102nd, Jackie Mather continuing her fine form was 115th and Cath Rowe was 133rd.
