Amsterdam Marathon
On 19th October 2008 Ian Chant and Jon Hughes represented Long Eaton in the Amsterdam Marathon, along with 24,000 other competitors. With its many highlights, the route through Amsterdam’s city centre takes in the Olympic Stadium, built in 1928, the nature reserves on both sides of the river Amstel, the Maritime Museum, the historic canals, Rijksmuseum and the attractive Vondelpark, which features twice during the marathon. Ian completed the course in a time of 3:07:58, with Jon crossing the finishing line in 3:29:30.
