Merrill 10k
On 14th October 2008 the club had a very successful outing at the Merrill 10k race in Derby. Neil Renault set a new personal best time of 30:12, which unsurprisingly was the winning race time and a new course record. Andy McNeil was next home for the club, finishing in 5th place with a time of 33:24. Not far behind was Paul Lewis who finished in 7th place in 33:34, setting a new course best in the process.
Neil, Andy and Paul won the Men’s Team Prize.
Ian Chant set a new personal best time of 36:26, finishing 15th. Mark Boot finished in 21st place with a time of 37:07. John Birch finished in 37:50, Patrick Fitzgerald finished in 39:49 and Martin Way set a new personal best time of 40:31. Alan Mablethorpe finished in 41:49, Neil Blatherwick set 45:59 and Rob Fox finished in 52:45.
As for the women, Natalie Fryer was the first home for the club, finishing in a time of 47:19. Caroline Waterhouse crossed the finish line in 49:20. Carole Birch set a new season best and course best time of 52:03 and Karen Preston, making a return to competitive running finished the course in 1:01:15.
