Previously On the Roads
On 31st August 2008 Patrick Fitzgerald took on the Double or Quits 10 mile race, setting a new personal best time of 1:06:52, finishing 4th overall. Representing the Ladies was Kathy Crockford who completed the course in 1:46:39.
Bob Crockford competed in the Double or Quits 5 mile race, finishing 44th overall, in a time of 53:08.
On the same day, Neil Renault and Andy McNeill travelled to Wales to compete in the Caernarfon 10k race. Neil finished 2nd overall in a time of 31:17, with Andy finishing 9th overall and 1st M40 in 34:18.
Closer to home, and also on 31st August 2008 10 Long Eaton Runners competed in the Hermitage 10k race, a tough undulating course. Paul Lewis was first home for the club, finishing 11th overall in a time of 35:36. Rob Fox finished in 18th position in 37:38. Andy Colegate completed the course in 39:09, finishing in 30th position. Colin Bostock finished in 46:58, followed by Duncan Gedge in 48:45 and Damien Cowlishaw in 52:24. As for the ladies, Monica Fee was first home for the club, finishing in a time of 45:50. Caroline Waterhouse finished in 50:49. Debbie Coleman and Nicola Bennett battled around the course, with Debbie finishing just ahead of Nicola in a time of 55:18. Nicola finished in 55:24.
On 5th September 2008 4 Long Eaton Runners competed in the Mansfield 5k race. Neil Renault won the race in a time of 15:18. Andy McNeil completed the course in 17:04, finishing in 10th position and 1st V40. Monica Fee finished 6th lady overall in a time of 20:55, with Rob Smith finishing in 20:57.
On 7th September 2008 2 Long Eaton runners completed the Leeds Half Marathon in fancy dress, unfortunately details of the costumes worn are unknown. Catherine Rowe and Bill Sheppard ran the course together, with Catherine crossing the line in 2:03:38 and Bill in 2:03:42.
Also on 7th September 2008 Nicola Bennett completed the John Fraser 10 mile race. Nicola finished in a time of 1:30:57.
Vicky Yeomans travelled to Lichfield on 7th September 2008 to compete in the Lichfield 10k. Vicky completed the course in 45:44, finishing 19th lady overall.
