Wroxham 5k road race
On 20th August 2008 Ian Chant competed in the Wroxham 5k road race, setting a new course best time of 17:46.

Pilsley fell race
On 21st August 2008 9 Long Eaton fell runners competed in the Pilsley fell race near Chatsworth in Derbyshire. The 5 mile course over farmlands and woodland trails found runners dodging a flock of sheep, a herd of bullocks and some inquisitive calves. The course was very slippery in places and involved 675ft of ascent. Rich Wilkinson was first home for the club in 44:04, closely followed by Andy Dickenson who finished in 44:42. Phil Abbott finished in 46:17. Nick Stevens finished in 47:39 and Phil Walters finished in 50:35. Colin Bostock and Jon Vardy battled each other around the course. Colin ultimately finished ahead of Jon in a time of 51:52, with Jon finishing in 52:45. Vicky Yeomans and Tony Vardy battled each other around the course. Vicky managed, this time, to finish ahead of Tony, crossing the finishing line in 57:14. Tony finished in a time of 59:02.

Newstead Abbey Dash
On 22nd August 2008 4 Long Eaton runners competed in the Newstead Abbey Dash 3 mile race. Sharon Orridge was first home for the club, finishing 2nd Lady overall in a time of 17:28. Mark Boot crossed the line in 17:47. Colin Bostock, competing in his 55th race of the year, finished in 20:15. Jackie Mather, returning from holiday, completed the course in 22:15.
