Hardy achieves sub-90 half marathon

On Sunday 10th August 2008 7 Long Eaton runners competed in the 27th Newark Half Marathon. The 13.1 mile course is mainly flat, through town and countryside, starting and finishing in the historic centre of Newark on Trent.

John Birch was first home for the club, finishing in 1:25:00 and 56th overall.

Simon Hardy, making his debut, finished in a new personal best time of 1:29:03. He finally achieved a sub 90 minute half marathon time on his 27th attempt! Congratulations Simon on a terrific performance.

Steve Craner, also making his debut in this event finished in 1:38:47. Another first timer to the event was Duncan Gedge, who finished in 1:50:39.

Caroline Waterhouse was the first of the Long Eaton ladies to cross the finish line. Caroline finished in a time of 1:54:40. Carole Birch set a new season best and a new course best with a time of 1:57:28. Kate Turner finished in 2:14:34.
