Recent Club Performances
On 16th July 2008 four Long Eaton runners competed in the Bamford Carnival fell race, a 4.5 mile course with just over 1000’ of climb. The route goes through Thornhill to the top of Win Hill and back. Andy Dickinson was first home for the club, finishing 43rd overall in a time of 35:16, closely followed by Rich Wilkinson who finished 51st overall in 36:00. Phil Walters completed the course in 39:10, finishing 95th overall, with Pete Sturgess finishing 157th out of 181 finishers in a time of 46:45.
On 20th July 2008 Mark Boot competed in the Chasewater 5k challenge, finishing 1st in his age category and 3rd overall with a time of 18:43.
At the same time Colin Bostock was competing in the Great Hucklow fell race. A scenic and challenging fell race from Great Hucklow village, Derbyshire and back, via Durham Edge, Abney Moor, Abney Low and Bretton Clough. The course was 6.1 miles with 1092 ft of ascent. Colin finished in 60th position with a time of 1:05:20.
Finally Brian Jobe represented the club in the Sherwood Pines 10k race, also on 20th July 2008. Brian achieved a new personal best time of 42:35.
