Elmton Chase Trail race

On Wednesday 18th June 2008, not content with racing the previous evening, Phil Abbott and Vicky Yeomans made the journey over to Elmton to take part in the Elmton Chase trail race which is part of the three counties trail race series. The course was 4.8 miles in a figure of 8 with the Elmtree Inn at the centre of the figure of 8, where the race started and finished. Weather conditions were good and the course, which was hilly in parts, went along road, trail and fields. Phil Abbott found himself amongst the lead pack. Will Phil in 7th position overall and 5th in his age category, the pack took a wrong turning, resulting in them clocking up extra mileage. Fortunately Phil finished in 7th position overall, but the wrong turn cost him 3rd place in his age category, although it did not cost him a prize, as only 1st senior male won a prize. He completed the course in a time of 32:33.

Despite tired legs, Vicky Yeomans finished 31st overall and 4th female overall, finishing ten seconds behind the 3rd placed female. Vicky collected the prize for first V35 female, completing the course in a time of 35:25.
