Long Eaton 5
On Sunday 15th June 2008 the club held its annual 5 mile road race. The weather was warm and dry, although a little windy on parts of the course.
It turned out to be a very special day for the McNeil family, with three generations racing on the day. Andy McNeil finished 6th overall in a time of 26:58, finishing 1st V40, whilst his son Cameron won the 2 mile fun run. Not to be left out, Andy’s father took part in the 5 mile race, finishing in a time of 48:26.
Six other members of the club competed in the 5 mile race, with Mark Boot setting a new personal best time of 29:34, finishing 30th. Simon Hardy finished in 32:22 and 68th overall. Paul Burchell finished in a new personal best time of 33:52 in 86th position. Peter Fowles finished 160th in 37:39, with Kathy Crockford finishing 272nd in 45:43 and Bob Crockford finishing 309th in 49:16.
Both races were well organised and well attended by both club and non club runners, with a great t-shirt for all finishers of the 5 mile race and a medal and goodie bag for all the fun run finishers.
