A Roundup of recent races
On 27th April 2008 Simon Hardy completed the Sheffield Half Marathon in a new personal best time of 1:31:10.
On 4th May 2008 Colin Bostock competed in the Portland AC Jubilee 10k race. He finished in 48th position in a time of 46:44.
On 5th May 2008 5 Long Eaton runners competed in the Fetch 1 mile challenge, all achieving new personal best times. Richard Wilkinson completed the course in 5:27, followed by Chris Dodd in 5:28. Brian Jobe made 5:43, with Ian Williams achieving a time of 6:02. Suzanne Newman set a time of 8:46.
On 6th May 2008 Chris Bradley competed in the Silverstone 10k race, achieving a new personal best time of 45:51.
On 7th May 2008 4 Long Eaton runners took on the challenge of the Tigers Todger fell race. The course was 6 miles with ascent of 850 feet. Ian Adkin was first home for the club, finishing 23rd in a time of 39:57. Andrei Vais finished 51st with a time of 42:35. Jonathan Vardy beat his father and completed the course in 51:57, finishing in 171st position. Tony Vardy completed the course in 54:00, finishing 180th.
On 7th May 2008 18 Long Eaton runners competed in the Bannister Mile time trial and there were some great individual performances. New personal best times were set by Andy Colegate (4:54), Ian Chant (5:12), Phil Abbott (5:25) and John Hay (5:55). There were debut performances by Gareth Watson (5:17), Jaik Pickford (5:24), Paul Burchell (5:53), Andy Bradley (6:07), Duncan Gedge (6:28), Bill Sheppard (6:35), Catherine Rowe (6:34), Kate Turner (7:19) and Carol Birch (7:36). Paul Lewis finished in 5:10, with Richard Wilkinson finishing in 5:13. John Birch finished in 5:21, with Colin Bostock finishing in 6:41 and Damien Cowlishaw finishing in 6:46.
On 18th May 2008 Kate Turner competed in the Eyam Half Marathon in Derbyshire. Kate finished 70th overall in a time of 2:07:35, which is a great performance given that this is a tough and very hilly course.
