Stroke the Mammoth

On Sunday 27th April 2008 Vicky Yeomans went over to Watermead Park in Leicestershire to take part in a one off charity race to raise funds for the stroke unit at Leicester General Hospital with the intention of purchasing actual equipment specifically for that unit. The race was 6.25 miles over an undulating course through the park, around two of the lakes and up the hill to “stroke the mammoth” and back again. A giant mammoth sits on the top of a hill in the park and every runner had to stroke him before they were allowed to descend the other side. It was a tough course, made tougher by the heat. Vicky completed the race in a time of 47:05, finishing 5th lady overall.
