Uttoxeter Half Marathon
On Sunday 27th April 2008 9 Long Eaton runners competed in the Uttoxeter Half Marathon, which surprisingly was a very hilly, tough course. It is certainly not a personal best course, however that didn’t put the runners off. Caroline Waterhouse was the 1st V35 lady to cross the finish line with a time of 1:47:13. John Birch achieved his highest ever finishing position in a half marathon, finishing 12th in 1:22:38. Phil Abbott, who is on great form following his marathon training, finished in 30th place in a new personal best time of 1:27:15.
There were also great performances by Jaik Pickford who finished in 1:31:52 (68th), Shaun Burton who finished in 1:45:21 (186th), Duncan Gedge who finished in 1:52:02 (241st), Stuart Bell who finished in 2:07:02 (328th) and Richard McKie who finished in 2:08:52 (332nd). Carol Birch finished in 2:02:58 (301st).
