Derby 10k

On 20th April 23 Long Eaton runners competed in the Derby 10k. The 10k route was a single out-and-back loop on both roads and hard surface paths with a city centre section. A big field, impressive organisation and stadium finish made for a great event although the race is not the easiest 10k in the world ,given some of the narrow sections and tight twists / turns on a wet surface.

There were also pacers to help runners get round in under 40 minutes, 50 minutes and 60 minutes, including our very own Sean Burton who paced runners around for a sub-60 finishing time and Ian Chant who paced runners around for a sub-50 time.

First home for the club was Mark Greenwood who finished in a fantastic 9th position overall with a time of 34:01. Andrew McNeil finished in 10th position in a time of 34:06. Sharon Orridge was next home for the club finishing 30th overall and 3rd Lady overall with a time of 36:56. Gareth Watson finished in a new personal best time of 38:40 and 54th overall, followed by Dave Boot in 61st place in a time of 39:01. Mark Boot finished in 109th position in 40:35.

New personal best times were also set by Cath Kindred, 43:02, Brian Jobe, 43:38, Phil Thompson, 45:28, Mark Goodson, 48:16, and Amy Law, 56:56.

Ian Chant got his group of runners over the finish line in 49:46, with Shaun Burton bringing his group home in 55:02.

John Hay finished in 43:45, just missing out on a new personal best time by one second! Neil Blatherwick finished in 45:24, followed closely by Stephen Croft in 45:40. Ian Williams finished in 46:54, followed by Chris Bradley in 47:45. Richard Syson finished in 49:04, with Kate Turner finishing in 52:13, Clive Steeden finished in 55:01, with Nicola Humphry crossing the finishing line in 57:05. Lucy Wright completed the course in 1:00:04, narrowly missing out on a sub-60 minute time.
