Wirksworth Incline fell race
On 20th April three Long Eaton runners took part in the 18th Wirksworth Incline fell race, a 4 mile fell race which climbs 600 feet, making its way up the famous “Incline” on the High Peak Trail passing the historical engine house at Middleton Top, here it moves right and takes the trail over local Moorland, eventually rejoining the High Peak Trail after contouring round farmland, the race then enters a fast
flat section before a furious descent back down the “Incline” to the start point.
John Birch and Carol Birch both achieved course bests, finishing in 26:43 and 39:02 respectively. John finished 13th overall. Paul Burchell tackled the race for the first time, finishing in 30:06.
