Recent Club Performances
Caroline Waterhouse has been busy recently. Firstly she tackled the Belvoir Challenge, all 16.8 miles of it, completing the course in 2:41:00. The route was hillier this year, but thankfully was much drier under foot than in previous years with perfect weather conditions. According to Caroline, the pasta soup and crumble with custard at the finish made it all worthwhile.
Then this weekend Caroline travelled to Liverpool to compete in the half marathon. Over 4000 runners emerged amongst the fallen branches to brave the constant 'Fab Four' references and tracks on this varied course. Amazing sunshine let the runners see the city in all its glory. She completed the course in a personal best time of 1:43:17.
Recently some of the boys have taken to the fells. 5 of the boys decided to give the new Chatsworth Chase Fell race a go. In all 134 runners finished this 7-mile/720 foot fell race. Glen Coleman was first home for the club and 28th overall finishing in 48:49. Andrei Vais finished 47th overall in 52:56, followed closely by Phil Walters in 54:13 who finished 52nd overall. Colin Bostock finished 81st in 59:17, with Peter Sturgess finishing 123rd in 1:12:36.
The following weekend Andrei left the comfort of the fells to compete in the Huddersfield 10k. He finished in a time of 45:47.
On Sunday four club members tackled the Reading Half Marathon. Paul Lewis had a fantastic race, setting a new personal best time of 1:14:47. He finished 65th overall. Paul’s time is the 4th fastest time ever achieved by a LERCer. Duncan Gedge completed the course in 1:46:10, followed closely by Paul Moffett who ran a course best, finishing in 1:47:28.
