Lambs Longer Leg Fell Race
On Sunday 8 runners from the club braved the elements to compete in the first fell race of the season. The race certainly seemed tougher than in previous years with an anti-clockwise circuit of the side of South Head in the High Peak District. The conditions were wet and windy and for safety reasons changes were made to the course. The weather obviously put many runners off, as the field was considerably smaller than in previous years. The course was 3.1 miles with a climb of 950 feet.
Richard Wilkinson was first home for the club and 21st overall in a time of 31:06. Glen Coleman made a return to the fells, finishing the course in a time of 33:59. Andrei Vais finished in 36:05, followed by Phil Abbott in a time of 40:22. Ian Wallis finished in 42:13, followed closely by Colin Bostock in 42:44. Sean Gauton completed the course in 44:20. Vicky Yeomans tackled the course, despite suffering with a chest infection, in a time of 50:43.
