Derby Midweek Races

On Wednesday 19th December 2007, 10 LERCs decided to take a break from Christmas shopping to attend David Denton’s Midweek training races (Race 4 of 8).

Three LERCs ran the one-mile course. Paul Lewis finished in 6th place in a time of 5:07. Damien Cowlishaw and Christopher Dodd, who ran both races took it steady on the one-mile race, finishing 41st and 42nd respectively in 8:47 and 8:48.

There was a surprise in the 5k race. Neil Renault was beaten on the night, and his course record was broken. Richard Weir of Derby AC finished in a new course record time of 14:37. Neil finished in second place, setting a new personal best time of 14:44 which was incredible considering he is currently suffering with a foot injury.
