Bowled over by Bolsover

The 10k held at Bolsover on 16 December was a day to remember for the Runners of Long Eaton. Five new PBs were set, along with a new best for age time and many good performances meant that LERC was bowled over by Bolsover.

Two father and son teams were also present on the day, with Alan and Luke Seamer to the front of the field with senior Seamer, Alan finishing in 23rd place with 35:42 and Luke finishing seven places back with 36:16. Sean Matthews persuaded his dad to run and Matthews Senior was not disappointed with his 53.27.

The race was advertised as a race for potential PBs and with Sean Matthews, Monica Fee, Duncan Gedge, Chris Bradley and Sue Watkinson getting new personal best times it certainly seemed to be the case.

Both Mens and Ladies team Captains were racing, with Jodie Smith setting a very good time of 46:14, which has now re-enthused her to go for an even quicker time at the Southwell 10k. Mens Captain, Shaun Burton ran his quickest 10k for many years and set a new V40 PB of 43:55. Rich Mckie broke 50 minutes by almost one minute and Nicola Greensmith finished in 590th position, ahead of some 172 other competitors
