Renault in Pole Position

As was the case this time last year Neil Renault from Long Eaton Running Club is in first place after the first 2 out of 4 race in the Holme Pierrepont Running Club heritage series and with only 2 to go Neil has a healthy lead. Andy McNeil is only 9 seconds behind the second place man and with Paul Lewis in 5th Overall it looks like a repeat of 2006 with 1st place for the team prize.

Meanwhile the weekend between the 4 heritage races saw 22 runners run the Mansfield half marathon and the 1st running of the Prestwold Hall 10k where 5 LERC runners took part. In the 10k Ian Chant was 1st back in just over 38.30 Phil Abbott was 20 secs outside his PB of 40:07, Shaun Burton ran 44:25 (his quickest for 2 years) beating John Hay by over a minute and “Rover” Rich McKie in his first run for 3 weeks managed just over 50 mins with out pain from recent injuries.

The Half Marathon at Mansfield was a new course and from the official results it proved that Glen Coleman liked the new 13.1 mile route to run in first for Long Eaton in 1:26:46. Paddy Fitzgerald was next home for LERC in 1:27:48 and in 87th place overall and 3rd for LERC was recently married Gareth Murtagh in just below 1:30. 1st LERC lady was Sarah Poole beating Ian Poole by 5 secs. Caroline Waterhouse picked up 2nd with Debbie Parker 3rd up for the Long Eaton Club.
