Neils, One - Two
Last weekend saw a glut of races with 4 being attended by Long Eaton, the best results were at the Sinfin 10K with the weather hot, it was had work for the 6.2 miles. The first two places were filled by Long Eaton Runners with Andy McNeil just being pipped by habitual winner Neil Renault (The same result as last year) by just one second and with Alan Seamer 11th and Paul Lewis in 15th the team prize also went to Long Eaton. 11 of the 15 Long Eatoners in the race were in the top 100 and with 304 finishers this was a good race again for LERC.
2 hours later the Shining Cliffs fell race started with 9 of the 65 runners from Long Eaton with Rich Wilkinson 9th in a Course Best of 33:35, 'Silver Fox' Ian Adkin was 90 Seconds later with Andrei 'the Flyer' Vais, besting John Birch for the first time. Ian Wallis getting revenging on Colin Bostock by finishing 50 seconds ahead of the old timer. Pete Sturgess finished the course in just over 48 minutes. The ladies had Zoe Fletcher and Carole Birch competing with Zoe finishing 2nd lady and Carole 6th.
The first Friday in June always stages the Notts 10 Mile race and as the weather was a bit of a shock with 25 degrees of heat compared to the rain that had been falling in the previous weekend.
The heat took its toll on some of the runners but new PB's were set by Clive Allison(64:59), Ray Nall (67:53), Andrei Vais set 70:42 narrowly being beaten by John Birch. Monica Fee 71:10, and Debbie Parker also set new best ten mile times. Colin Bostock fresh from camping and washing his running vest set a very good time of 74:08
