White Peak Marathon:A piece of cake!

Saturdays Half and Full marathon was memorable not for Vicky Yeomans getting her 3rd PB in a week with 1:42 in the half marathon, Colin Bostock getting his quickest half for 5 years, Kevin Holland knocking 14 minutes off his last half Marathon time, Richard Wilkinson setting his 3rd best time for 13.1 miles ever (Not bad for 30 years of running) and Rob Easter and Shaun Burton setting seasons bests with 1:31 and 1:36 respectively. Nor for John Hay setting a course best along with Damien Cowlishaw. Not even Sue Watkinson setting a PB of below 2 hours or Barbara Bostock setting a seasons best.

What will be remembered by Long Eaton running club about this race was a Cream Cake!
The Cream Cake was taken to the race by Phil Abbott who was going to eat it but he decided to offer it to Craig Parker who was at the 19 mile marker at the time and was starting to struggle. Craig grabbed it thankfully and scoffed it down it one gulp. The cake did the trick and the sugar and jam from the creamy donut picked Craig up and he went to finish his second Marathon in a PB time of 3:23, Glen Coleman finished the race in 3:16 and feeling a bit poorly, decided to redecorate his running shoes as he crossed the line, Dave Wilkinson in his 2nd Marathon in 3 weeks set 3:18 and Paddy Fitzgerald in his first marathon set a fantastic time of just under 3:10. All in all a good race for LERC, with Craig Parker putting this race in his dairy for next year..Oops i mean diary.
