Derby 10k

It started with a cold dry morning with a slight cold breeze at the Pride Park Stadium for the 10K race, an unusual early race start of 9:30 a.m.

As usual the long Eaton racers stood at the start, ‘11’ man and ‘8’ ladies and once the whistle went off we went to confront this absolute flat winding course through the town and along the river.

The early shoppers giving us support which encouraged all of us to put an extra effort but not forgetting the few Long Eaton members on the side line braving the cold morning for even more support.

And thus Andy McNeill in fine form at the moment finished 1st in the V40 category and Sharon Orridge 2nd in the V35 category.

Excellent effort from the rest but noticeable from Craig Parker for the first time went under 40 minute and thus a PB for him.

Martin Way a newcomer to the club made an effort of 41:24 an excellent debut, so watch out for him in future races.
