Belvoir Half Marathon

18" club members took a trip over the border into Leicestershire where on the hottest day of the year so far Rod Harris set an equally hot pace to win and defended the title he won last year, this years time was 1:12:37. Rod also nearly got an extra prize when the announcer almost gave him the veterans prize as well, Rod who is only 35 doesnt look 40 yet!

Rod along with Paul Lewis (1:19:05), Sean Matthews (1:19:41) and mens captain John Birch (1:21:42) also took the mens team race. John Hughes (1:24:22) set a new PB along with Paul Lewis, Sean Matthews, Phil Abbott (1:28:35) and Dave Wilkinson (1:26:49). Ray Nall in his first race for Long Eaton set a respectable time of 1:38:46.

Ash Patel was 141st in just under 1:35. Whilst old stagers Shaun Burton and Colin Bostock were happy to knock 8 minutes and 5:20 off of the times set in last years race, with Shaun managing to break 1:40 for the first time in four years and Colin 1:40:37. Rich Mckie finished the course in 2:02:21.

The Ladies team managed 3rd place overall with Sarah Tucker setting the pace for Long Eaton her time of 1:23:58 good enough for 2nd lady and 36 place in the race. Jodie Smith set 1:41:17 to finish 2nd Long Eaton Lady, Sarah Cranage taking a rare Saturday off from running to concentrate on the race set a time of 1:45:09 for her efforts. Debbie Parker cheered on by her mum and dad set a good time of 1:51:30. Barbara Bostock training for the London Marathon in 2 weeks time also set a good time for the distance.
